How to Perform a Reference Search in the Concordance

How can I search for specific Bible verses in the Concordance?

The Concordance is generally used to search Biblical Keywords or specific Strong's Numbers, but we have enabled the ability to also search verse ranges. To search for a biblical reference, you must enter a starting and ending range (you cannot search an entire book or chapter). Once you know what you want to search for, simply type the reference in our standard format, e.g. Genesis 1:2, or Genesis 1:2-19, or Genesis 1:2-2:5.

If you aren't sure what the valid verse reference is, you can rely on our auto-complete tool to provide you with helpful hints as you type. If you type "Gen" the auto-complete will provide Keyword matches (e.g. "Gentiles", "Generation", etc.) and Reference book names that match (e.g. "Genesis"). If you keep typing "Genes" the only match will be "Genesis" and you can hit enter to activate the auto-completion.

After you have a book name entered, the auto-complete will prompt you to enter a chapter. It will display the valid limits so that you don't enter an invalid number, e.g. 1-50. When you type the chapter and then a colon, e.g. "Genesis 1:" the auto-complete will then instruct you to enter a verse, again giving you the valid limits, e.g. 1-30. After you enter a verse, you will be given the option to hit enter to create a "pill" reference, or to enter a dash ("-") if you want to enter a range. More auto-complete tips will help you construct the range. After you are done with the range you may hit enter to accept the reference.

This may sound complicated, but if you already know the verse reference, simply type it in the proper format and everything will work perfectly.
